PROJECT SILENT VOICE
Inspiration
Inspired by the anime Silent Voice, which tells the story of a deaf girl, I was motivated to create a modern, accessible communication tool. The aim is to bridge communication gaps and make interactions easier for individuals who are deaf, mute, or both but is accessible to all people with the use of technology.
What it does
- Voice and Speech Tools: These tools cover different aspects of communication, including introductions, asking questions, seeking help, and farewells. Each interaction is facilitated by text-to-speech technology.
- Customizable Messages: Users can type their own messages to be spoken aloud, providing flexibility beyond preset options.
- Silent Chat: This feature allows users to generate a QR code that can be shown to others. Scanning the code redirects them to a temporary chat room where they can converse in real time. This is particularly useful for clarifying questions and facilitating quick exchanges without the need for prolonged setup.
How I built it
Silent Voice was built using HTML for structure, CSS for styling, and JavaScript for functionality. Countless hours fueled by coffee were spent debugging, refining, and testing to ensure a smooth user experience.
Challenges I ran into
I faced several challenges, including balancing school work, household chores, and lack of sleep. Despite these obstacles, the journey was immensely rewarding and educational.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud to have finished this project and present it with my utmost effort and dedication. Completing Silent Voice represents both a technical milestone and a personal triumph.
What I learned
I learned more about the experiences of deaf and mute people and deepened my understanding of JavaScript and web development. Each challenge required creative solutions, enhancing my problem-solving skills and resilience.
What's next for Silent Voice
- More Human-like Voices: Integrating more natural and customizable voice options to improve the user experience.
- Colorblind Accessibility: Adding features to accommodate colorblind users, ensuring the interface is inclusive for everyone.
