Inspiration
Our project was inspired by personal experience and recent policies ahead of Black Maternal Health Week (April 2024). The heart of our mission lies in community and support surrounding maternal morbidity, infertility, and the complexities of maternal mental health following stillbirths and pregnancy loss.
What it does
The MatriARC App provides educational tools and resources for reproductive health and maternal health. It serves as a digital safe haven where mothers can find strength and wisdom, empowering them to heal themselves and their wombs at every stage of their pregnancy.
How we built it
MatriArc is built using FlutterFlow, with a mobile client (iOS/Android) and backend services.
Challenges we ran into
Our journey was not without challenges. We faced tight time and resource constraints, in addition to budget limitations and ethical considerations for integrating AI. These challenges tested our resolve but also brought out the best in our collective creativity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Selecting a robust platform as the foundation for our app. Sourcing credible, informative content. Mastering the art of digital collaboration, particularly through Discord. Our team's flexibility in scheduling across different time zones. Successfully managing asynchronous work.
What we learned
Communication is the lifeline of collaboration. Regularly revisiting our meeting objectives and discussions before each touch base can be instrumental in keeping teams aligned and focused on our north star.
What's next for MatriARC
Looking ahead, we would love to extend our project beyond the hackathon to focus more time on research and development. Our vision for MatriARC is to not only be a vessel of information but to evolve into a global community that supports and empowers every Black woman impacted by stillbirth or pregnancy loss, fostering awareness and hope for the future.
