Inspiration
The project is inspired by Silent Hill with the its simplistic graphics and heavy fog. The Maskface enemy has weeping angle inspired behaviours.
What it does
The project is a horror game with a map inspired by NTU Clifton campus.
How we built it
The game was created using Unity, Visual Studio, Photoshop/GIMP for texture creation, 3DSMax for model creation, Google Maps API in order to get a clean image of the NTU Clifton Campus map.
Challenges we ran into
We were unable to implement collectables into the game which means the game has no win or lose state. In addition all of the buildings use the same texture rather than having different textures like we initially planned.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to use Unity's fog system in order to recreate the heavy fog present in Silent hill. Furthermore, using a Google Map API an accurate 3D NTU Clifton Campus for the game. The Maskface enemy and behaviour matches our plan and would give a suitable threat to the player if it was able to kill them.
What we learned
We learnt how to implement enemy pathfinding in Unity as well as how to use Unity's fog system.
What's next for Silence follows
Adding collectables which case the enemy speed to increase as more are picked up. Creating unique textures for each building. Adding sound effects to the game for the players steps, enemy movement and attacks, and ambience. Adding the created animation for the enemy jumpscare which it catches the players. Creating a main menu and end state for the game with the potential of a timer for how long it took to obtain all the collectables.
