Inspiration

Silah was inspired by the challenges many new Muslims face after accepting Islam. While becoming Muslim is life-changing, many converts struggle to find mentors, friends, local communities, and trustworthy guidance. We wanted to create a platform that helps every new Muslim feel welcomed and connected.

What it does

Silah is an AI-powered platform that helps new Muslims connect with mentors, local communities, and other Muslims. Users can discover nearby events, join discussions, message others, and receive support in a safe, welcoming environment with AI moderation.

How we built it

We built Silah using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Supabase for authentication, databases, and real-time messaging. We also integrated AI moderation to help keep community discussions respectful and welcoming.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was balancing community engagement with safety. We also had to design a scalable database, build multiple social features, and integrate AI—all within the limited time of a hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a platform that solves a real problem for new Muslims. We successfully combined mentor matching, community discussions, messaging, local events, and AI moderation into one unified experience.

What we learned

We learned how to build a full-stack social platform, integrate AI responsibly, and work efficiently as a team under hackathon time constraints. We also saw how technology can strengthen real-world communities.

What's next for Silah

Next, we plan to improve mentor verification, add smarter AI recommendations, expand event discovery, and launch a mobile app. Our goal is to make Silah the go-to platform for every new Muslim seeking guidance and community.
