Inspiration

As a handyman and vendor working with property managers for years, I constantly faced a messy, time-wasting problem after finishing work orders: handwritten sign-off sheets. Store managers would scribble a signature on a piece of paper (often in a hurry), or tenants would give a quick verbal "looks good" — and that was it.

Those papers were always unprofessional, piled up into a mess, and left both the vendor and property manager with a pseudo reliable record of blurry/unverifiable images of paper signoffs. It looked bad and caused payment delays and trust issues.

What it does

SignOff is a simple, web-based tool that replaces messy paper sign-offs with one-click, secure digital approvals. Managers or vendors can email a secure link to an approver (store manager or tenant).

The approver reviews the work and confirms it with a single click — no login, no app installs. Each approval is automatically logged with a detailed audit trail (timestamp, IP, device), creating a verifiable and professional record.

How we built it

-Frontend: React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS for a modern, responsive interface. -Backend: Supabase with PostgreSQL, Row Level Security (RLS) for robust data protection. -Serverless: Supabase Edge Functions handle emails, tokens, and Stripe payments. -Email: Resend API for secure, professional approval links. -Deployment: Netlify for fast, global hosting.

Challenges we ran into

-Designing a seamless approval flow that requires no logins or app installs. -Balancing simplicity with a strong audit trail. -Educating users on the difference between a signature app and a dedicated work order verification system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Created a fully functional MVP that addresses a real, personal problem. -Developed a secure, token-based one-click approval system. -Built a professional dashboard with search, export, and token controls. -Launched a polished, mobile-optimized landing page and app.

What we learned

-Simplicity and credibility are critical for busy vendors and managers. -Even in a world full of "digital solutions," many still rely on paper or unreliable manual methods. -Clear, immediate value (like faster approvals and payment) resonates most strongly.

What's next for SignOff — One-Click Work Order Confirmation

-Bulk delete and advanced filtering on dashboards. -Deeper integrations with property management platforms. -Partnering with maintenance vendors to offer SignOff as a value-added service to their PM clients. -Expanding features for larger portfolios and national franchises.
