SignalChain – Vueling Challenge

Our project is based on the Vueling challenge. We’ve developed SignalChain, a super minimalist mobile app designed for emergencies like airport blackouts. When screens go dark and chaos sets in, SignalChain keeps critical information flowing.

Travelers can instantly access and report flight information, general alerts, and the location of other users — all without relying on internet access. The app uses Bluetooth to automatically sync essential data between nearby devices.

In this prototype, devices must be pre-paired via Bluetooth to exchange data. However, in a real-world implementation, we could leverage the Exposure Notification API developed by Apple and Google — a system originally created for COVID-19 contact tracing. This API allows secure device-to-device communication without pairing, but can only be used with government and OS vendor approval.
