Inspiration

We have always had a vested interest in the music industry but have had difficulty exploring our ambition. Sight-reading has always proven to be a difficulty for us and upon having conversations with others, we learned that this wasn't just a problem we were facing. SightRead aims to make music a more accessible industry to everyone, for all the greats who may not have been able to get into the music industry otherwise.

What it does

SightRead will give you songs and show you segments of the notes which you must play along with. It will tell you if you played the wrong note and show you the proper placements to avoid it in the future.

How we built it

We compared the wavelengths of notes in songs and the instrument the player is using in order to get the probability that the same note was played.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to implement Fast Fourier Transform into our project.

What's next for SightRead

We plan to continue expanding our musical options and to get user input on how we can improve SightRead.
