Inspiration
Cybersecurity investigations often require analysts to use multiple tools for memory analysis, network analysis, risk assessment, and reporting. This process can be complex and time-consuming, especially for students and beginners. We wanted to create a unified platform that simplifies digital forensic investigations through an easy-to-use dashboard. This inspired us to build SIFT Sentinel AI.
What it does
SIFT Sentinel AI is a Memory and Network Forensics Investigation Platform that allows users to upload memory dump files and network capture files for analysis. The platform performs forensic investigation, identifies suspicious processes and network activity, assesses security risks, and generates investigation reports. The results are presented through an interactive cybersecurity dashboard with executive summaries, risk indicators, evidence exploration, and technical analysis logs.
How we built it
We developed the platform using Python and Streamlit for the dashboard interface. Memory analysis was performed using forensic analysis techniques and process inspection, while network analysis was carried out using packet capture inspection and protocol identification. We integrated automated risk assessment logic, evidence management, report generation, and dashboard visualization to provide a complete investigation workflow.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was integrating multiple forensic analysis components into a single platform. We faced issues with file handling, report generation, dashboard synchronization, risk assessment visualization, and analyzer execution. Ensuring that the dashboard remained responsive while displaying investigation results was also a significant challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a complete cybersecurity investigation dashboard that combines memory analysis, network analysis, evidence management, risk assessment, executive reporting, and investigation visualization into a single platform. We are particularly proud of the professional dashboard design, automated workflow, and the ability to present complex forensic information in an understandable format.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned about digital forensics, memory analysis, network traffic investigation, dashboard development using Streamlit, report generation, cybersecurity workflows, and project integration. We also gained experience in debugging, UI design, automation, and presenting security data effectively.
What's next for SIFT Sentinel AI – Memory & Network Forensics Platform
Future versions of SIFT Sentinel AI will include AI-powered intrusion detection, machine learning-based anomaly detection, automated malware classification, real-time network monitoring, intelligent threat scoring, cloud-based forensic investigation support, and advanced incident response capabilities. Our long-term vision is to transform the platform into a complete AI-driven Security Operations and Digital Forensics solution.
