Inspiration
Given the specifications for the diagrams at hand, we wanted to find a way to construct a digital representation of a building infrastructure graph. We knew that we would have to deal with optical graph recognition and the underlying representation in data eventually. This was a problem we found interesting and wanted to tackle.
What it does
Our tool works by pattern matching for individual symbols in a graph. We then perform edge detection to extract information on the connectivity of the graph. Finally, everything should be made a bit more user-friendly than having to use the command line as an interface by providing a simple front-end based on Flask. This allows one to submit a PNG picture of a graph and visualizes the dependencies determined during the analysis
How I built it
With the might of caffeine and bad coding habits.
Challenges I ran into
Other than the general handicap of being deprived of sleep, implementing the edge detection in the graph was quite a challenge for example.
