As people get busier and as the trend increases for “low-maintenence” friendships, many people find themselves forgetting to connect with their friends in-person. A growing lack of third spaces, particularly in suburban cities, can also make it challenging for people to find new things to do with their friends. The lack of routine in making time to socialize and reconnect with friends causes friendships to dwindle out and lose the spark that makes them special.

Side Quests is an app that encourages users to return to their old friendships and create new memories, while taking away the hassle of finding a spot to visit so they can focus on making time for the people that matter. Users start by inputting their ideal hangout preferences into the app. Then, they connect their contacts and add their friends. When they’re ready to make plans, Side Quests will randomly match the user with a friend and assign the pair a “secret” location to visit based on their preferences. After the pair completes a Side Quest together, they can log a shared memory and post it to the map. This way, their other friends can also get a glimpse of the memories they made together, and maybe discover a new spot they want to try with their friends too.

Through Side Quests, we hope to make it easier for users to take time to reconnect with their friends, regularly. We want friendships to evolve into stronger versions of themselves, one Side Quest at a time.
