Inspiration
I was inspired by Videogames, and how they manage to make menial tasks fun by turning it into a game. I was also inspired by youtubers, who often go out of their way to help other youtubers reach more audiences.
What it does
When you play a long, tedious game, sometimes a small little side quest can make things exciting! The machine gives you a quick adventure to do if you're bored.
How I built it
Used Pixel art I created, and a Replit to create all the pages, I slowly program and added in ideas as I went. The page explains the task, provides resources and information that help the user, and is incredibly simple and hands off. The software focuses on quickly introducing the player with something that will interest them, rather than wasting time with an already bored user.
Challenges I ran into
I have very little experience with languages other than Java and Python, so the entire project was an ordeal. Being the only programmer made the workload greater, and increased the pain of having to find someone to help me bugfix.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The entire thing runs better then I would have expected, and with the little experience I have I believe I made something pretty impressive.
What we learned
I learned all the basics. I had absolutely no Idea what I was doing in the beginning, and have learnt a LOT in the last 12 hours. I also learned how to plan out a presentation.
What's next for Side Questinator
It can be expanded easily by adding more "side quests," and can always try to expose more stuff to people. Ideas I have to implement (but don't have the experience to do) are adding filters that sort by genre and price, allowing for sponsorships, adding a link for a game review, and allowing players to find youtubers / content creators of said game.
