🚀 Inspiration

Millions of people want to earn extra income but don’t know where to start. Traditional advice is generic, overwhelming, or outdated. We wanted to build something that helps users discover side hustles they can actually start—today—with clear steps, tools, and realistic earning potential.

That’s how the idea for Side Hustle Recommender was born: a personalized, fast, and friendly guide to help anyone take their first step toward financial freedom.

💡 What it does

Side Hustle Recommender is an AI-powered tool that asks users 5 quick questions about their skills, interests, and time availability—and then instantly recommends 3 personalized side hustle ideas.

For each hustle, it provides:

• A brief description
• Tools/platforms required
• Estimated weekly time commitment
• Potential monthly earnings
• First actionable steps to get started

It also features optional voice narration (via ElevenLabs) and an animated UI for a delightful and engaging experience—all in a single prompt.

🛠️ How we built it

• Built entirely on Bolt.new using a single conversational prompt
• Prompt logic designed to gather useful user context in < 5 inputs
• Used ElevenLabs for voice narration of the results
• Framer Motion for animated reveal of each hustle recommendation
• Clean, responsive UI with badges, cards, and progressive disclosure
• No external API integrations required—fully self-contained

🧗 Challenges we ran into

• Prompt tuning: Ensuring that the AI could generate three varied and relevant recommendations for diverse user inputs
• Managing output length and clarity while preserving helpful detail
• Keeping voice narration natural and informative without overwhelming the user
• Balancing utility (practical steps, revenue estimates) with UX (speed, friendliness, clarity)

📚 What we learned

• Users prefer clarity over complexity—concise, direct prompts work best
• AI can be surprisingly effective at real-world recommendations when guided correctly
• Combining thoughtful UI with voice and animation makes single-prompt apps feel premium
• Even low-barrier ideas (like side hustles) benefit from strong structure and guidance

🔮 What's next for Side Hustle Recommender

• Add progress tracking and optional follow-up prompts ("Did you try it?")
• Integrate Notion or Google Docs export so users can save their plan
• Add filters (online only, ₹0 startup, creative, etc.)
• Localize content for regional side hustles (e.g., India, Latin America)
• Expand into a “Side Hustle Toolkit” with resume templates, pricing calculators, etc.

We’re just getting started. This project is proof that a single well-crafted conversation can spark a new income stream—and maybe even a new career.
