Inspiration
As someone recently diagnosed with SIBO I found finding safe meals on a daily basis difficult. I designed this to take some of the cogitative load away from daily life. Load up the app at the beginning of the day and just focusing on preparing the meal.
What it does
The SIBO Mealplan app creates customized meal plans based on your SIBO type: hydrogen, methane, mixed, or hydrogen sulfide. It provides daily recipes designed to reduce symptoms, simplify food choices, and support gut healing.
How we built it
This was built using Laravel / MySQL in the backend and using Vue JS 3 in the frontend with the Quasar framework which allows us to make this a web app, phone app or a standalone application.
Challenges we ran into
Ideally I would have liked to provide a way for the user to share a safe food list and we filter recipes based on that as well as your SIBO type but the interface made the process to confusing and it is probably better suited as a different app that interconnects with this app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud to get a quick snappy responsive app that can do all that is initially promised.
What we learned
We've learned how to deploy a standalone frontend in Vue JS with a decoupled backend in Laravel that can be reusable for other similar projects.
What's next for Sibo Mealplan
Next steps are too add more recipes, provide more information like starch levels, and include histamine information because a lot of times sibo meals are high histamine which creates a different set issues for the sibo suffer
