Indonesia is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, yet many affected communities still rely on slow, fragmented, and non-digital reporting systems. As developers based in the region, we wanted to build a simple but powerful solution that empowers local communities to report disasters in real time, even before official channels respond.
SiBencana Alert was born out of the idea that timely and crowdsourced information can save lives. By combining real-time databases, geospatial mapping, and AI summarization, we created a platform where anyone can submit a disaster report and instantly see it visualized on an interactive map.
During the hackathon, we focused on building a clean, responsive UI, integrating Supabase for backend and realtime updates, and developing a lightweight AI engine to auto-generate summaries from user-submitted descriptions.
