Absence of a reliable fare comparer site that let buyer to easily shop online.
What it does
Its a searching and recommendation engine for online users that lets users to search and compare the prices of different products that are available online.
How I built it
Nodejs based crawler for gathering data from different sites. Web application using ejs and nodejs for the user to compare the prices.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge is that the online site don't have any Api's for gathering data. So we have to write our own engine for crawling for each site the offers online shopping.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We created the crawling engine in a way that it is very easy to add new sites and modify the settings for existing site.
What I learned
How different online sites showcase their data and how this recommendation engine uses their public data. What are the techniques and tools for properly gathering the data and storing in a unified way according to our needs.
What's next for SianaBaba
We are still developing the mobile apps, and the web app is in beta testing phase.
