Inspiration

This app is inspired by tiktok infinite scrolling, WhatsApp status and twitter fun tweets. Basically, it shows tweets as infinite whatsapp statuses. A user can swipe through tweets like swiping through whatsapp statuses. As user views and interacts with tweets, the app silently learns of their preferred tweets and continuously curates contents suited to their taste. This provides an exciting yet familiar way to allow people to explore tweets.

The initial inspiration came from observing how people screenshots tweets and posts them on their whatsapp status. Then the idea clicked what if there is an app that does this automatically.

How we built it

This was built using flutter for the mobile side and typescript running on google cloud firebase functions. there is a cronjob that fetches sampled tweets and stores them up for retrieval by the app. As users view tweets and interact with them we keep track of their interactions and figure out the best content to serve them specifically.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge is that we discovered this exciting twitter completion within few days of the submission deadline. We have therefore strived to provide a fitting proof of concept and are hopeful to work and improve and reach our initial goal.

We learned about the various possibilities and power that lie with the twitter API and are already briming with interesting ideas we would like to implement in the future.

What's next for Shweet

We hope to execute on the full dream we have for this app and give users a familiar and exciting way to discover twitter.
