Inspiration

Popular dating app put a lot of pressure on 1 or 2 attention-capturing pictures. Is that really the best way to connect with a stranger? Meeting new people should be about forming meaningful connections. For us music lovers, what is a better way to learn about someone than through their music taste?

We are Tung and Mimi and today we welcome you to shuffle. Before we get into what shuffle really is about, let me explain why our project addresses a challenge relevant to social good and how it can help solve it.

Every young adult can probably agree that dating is exhausting. And until you meet the right person, it sucks. There are so many different ways to date people and while some people choose to go the natural organic way of waiting for it to happen, a lot of people turn to dating apps to find that “special someone.”

If you’re using a dating app, there’s a good chance you really don’t know what you want. Whether you’re trying to find new friends or just talk to people, dating apps are designed to be casual and allows you to do so. Sometimes it works in your favor and you find a perfect match, but routinely you find people that you talk to for three days and then end up leaving them on read. Why?

It's because usually people are overwhelmed with all the information on a profile: pictures of themselves (are they attractive); do they have any common interests; where do they go to school/work? do I know them in real life already? ... These questions are what stopping people from forming meaningful connections with new ones out there, which is why we introduce to you today: shuffle.

shuffle is an app, where music lovers can match with each other and talk about their love for music. The reason why shuffle is different from other dating apps is that the only information you are allowed to know about someone is their name, age and music taste. shuffle allows users to fully connect with each other over a similar interest, thus helping them forming a better and more genuine connection.
