Inspiration
In Sylhet, Bangladesh, local news is not 24/7 and local reporters can't get paid globally because PayPal integration is complex. I wanted to build Bangladesh's first AI news channel from Sylhet.
What it does
SHTV24 is a 24/7 AI News Channel:
- AI Anchor news in Bangla & English
- Viewers subscribe for premium breaking news via PayPal ($2.99/month)
- Local reporters get paid instantly via PayPal Payouts
- AI summarizes breaking news in real-time
How we built it
- PayPal Checkout API for subscriptions
- PayPal Payouts API for reporter payments
- OpenAI GPT-4 for news script generation
- ElevenLabs for AI Anchor voice
- Next.js + Render for hosting
- Zapier for automation
Challenges we ran into
PayPal integration in Bangladesh is challenging, but we used PayPal Sandbox + REST API. Making AI voice sound natural in Bangla was hard.
