Inspiration
We were inspired by the reddit social media platform in its anonymous posting of intimate stories. This made us want to produce a site where people could tell their stories and receive consolation from not only the community but also from which there would always be someone guaranteed to ensure they received the emotion and mental help they need.
What it does
Shrink Bot is a social networking site that enables to you post diary-esque entries of how your day is going anonymously. People can comment on your post for consolation or encouragement, but the true novelty lies in our Shrink Bot's automated response system which analyzes the sentiment in your message and responds accordingly.
How I built it
We built a frontend, backend, and rebuilt the sentiment analysis tooklit provided by Stanford to produce an infrastructure capable of supporting multi-user anonymous posting and instant response by our Shrink Bot.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into challenges building the sentiment analysis portion in java and linking it to node.js to build a cohesive product.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that we were able to build the node.js-java interface as reliably as we did.
What I learned
I learned how to utilize Stanford's NLP Toolkit, specifically the sentiment analysis portion as well as interface java with node.js in a reliable and scalable manner.
What's next for Shrink Bot
We hope to expand Shrink Bot so that it will accommodate as many users as demand requires
