Inspiration
Negativity is toxic. We have all been there, browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, and then there it is: a negative comment. If we can eliminate these comments before it's even posted, how great would that be. We see much more negativity online because posters have the anonymous sentimental and are not receiving real-time feedback like when they are talking to an actual person.
What it does
Our project is a package that can be installed into any website to display emotional body language feedback as posters type their comment. The comments are evaluated with an algorithm that takes into account the positivity, irony, subjectivity etc. The comments will be shown in a descending order with the most positive comment on top.
How we built it
We used JS for the user front end, and the LAMP stack for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
Picking an API was a challenge, there are many sentiment APIs that give varying amount of details. It was also hard to find online collections of peoples faces posing like we wanted, so we ended up taking pictures of one of our team member.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It mostly works. Our prototype conveys the key functionality well.
What we learned
We learned how to scope a project to be done in only a few hours of coding.
What's next for Shrini Sees
We want to make this into something that can easily be installed by other web development easily.
