Inspiration

Short-form video channels die for one reason: consistency. A channel needs a new episode every single day, and a human team can't sustain that. We asked: what if the entire studio — writer, director, editor, narrator, publisher, and community manager — was one autonomous agent?

What it does

ShowPilot is an autonomous AI showrunner. Give it a one-line topic and it:

  1. Writes — Qwen turns the topic into a scripted short drama with scene breakdowns
  2. Storyboards — Qwen decomposes the script into shot-level prompts
  3. Renders — Wan generates the video scenes
  4. Voices & edits — TTS narration, 9:16 framing, burned-in captions, scene assembly via ffmpeg
  5. Publishes — posts the finished Reel through the Facebook Graph API
  6. Grows the channel — auto-posts an engagement question as the first comment, re-shares as a Story, and tracks views/likes per episode in a live dashboard

How we built it

  • Qwen (Qwen Cloud API) — scriptwriting, storyboarding, per-scene prompt generation
  • Wan — text-to-video scene generation
  • Python pipeline — orchestration, ffmpeg editing/captioning, TTS voiceover
  • Facebook Graph API — automated Reel + Story publishing and engagement metrics
  • Alibaba Cloud — deployment, running the daily schedule
  • Multi-channel architecture: each channel has its own voice, topic queue, and credentials, defined in a single config

Challenges we ran into

  • Keeping generated scenes visually coherent across a multi-shot story (solved with storyboard-level prompts that carry character/style descriptors between shots)
  • Fully unattended operation: per-topic failures must be logged and skipped, never block the daily run
  • Platform compliance — everything published must be original, generated content

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The pipeline is not a prototype: channels built on this system have been publishing real Reels to Facebook daily since June 2026, unattended. ShowPilot upgrades the creative core from stock-footage assembly to fully generative Qwen + Wan storytelling.

What we learned

An agent that ships daily beats a better agent that ships once. Most of the engineering is not in generation but in the boring loop around it: scheduling, failure recovery, credentials, and metrics.

What's next for ShowPilot

  • Feedback loop: feed per-episode watch-time back to Qwen so the writer learns what the audience actually finishes
  • More platforms (YouTube Shorts, TikTok) from the same episode build
  • Character continuity across episodes — real serialized drama
