Inspiration
I was inspired to make this website as satire after seeing so many people go out to socialize with several different groups of people without regard for how they are possibly endangering others by making it easier for the coronavirus to spread.
What it does
This website helps people make the difficult decision of whether they should go out for fun or stay home in the middle of a pandemic after requesting some information. However, what users do not know is that regardless of the information or justification given, the website's answer to "should you stay home" rather than going out for fun is always "yes."
How I built it
I used simple HTML to build it and used GitHub to generate the link.
Challenges I ran into
I could not figure out how to route the buttons to a new webpage without Flask.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is my first hackathon. Before this weekend, I did not know what HTML, CSS, Git, GitHub, VSCode, rendering, deploying, or anything else was. I am very proud that I was able to quickly learn a lot of concepts and learn how to create my own project, even if it is very simple.
What I learned
Everything that went into making this project was new to me. I learned how to use GitHub and the basics of HTML.
What's next for Should You Stay Home: Pandemic Edition
I would like to alter the website to explicitly show that going to the grocery store or other essential outings is completely understandable and okay. Right now, the website only focuses on how going out to unnecessarily socialize is unacceptable.
