Inspiration
We were inspired by the sheer absurdity of career decisions being influenced by online quizzes, horoscopes, and gut feelings. So we thought, what if a dramatic AI tool that uses no actual logic could tell you whether to quit your job with total confidence? Thus, Should I Quit My Job? was born: a one-button solution to life’s most chaotic question.
What it does
The app allows users to click a big red button labeled “Tell Me My Fate,” simulating an over-the-top AI analysis filled with fake diagnostics, cosmic evaluations, and made-up metrics. After a fake loading sequence, it gives a completely random answer (Yes, No, Maybe, or WTF) along with a fake Job Stability Score, an emoji, and a bizarre AI reasoning log all delivered with dramatic flair.
How we built it
We built this as a single-page web app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The core logic relies on randomly selecting results from predefined sets. The UI features fake loading animations, console-style output, animated text, and a highly polished but completely untrustworthy decision display. We intentionally designed the visuals to feel serious corporate fonts, fake data charts to parody real decision tools.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was pretending to take this project seriously. We had to strike the perfect balance between uselessness and humor, making sure it looked functional while delivering zero actual value. Designing fake loading screens and AI logs that felt convincing but silly was a hilarious but delicate process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to turn a serious topic career decisions into a dramatic, comedic, and completely pointless digital experience. The app is satisfying to use, weirdly addictive, and 100% on-brand for the “Useless Sh*t” category. We’re also proud of how polished the interface looks for something so absolutely ridiculous.
What we learned
Humor and design can go hand-in-hand. We learned how tone, animation, and fake data can trick the brain into feeling like something matters, even when it doesn’t. We also realized that the best user experiences don’t always have to be useful sometimes, they just need to be fun and absurd.
What's next for Should I Quit My Job?
A “Send to HR” button (that always fails) Horoscope-based decision logic LinkedIn integration that roasts your resume Daily “Career Tarot” cards But realistically? We’re not taking this any further. The app is gloriously pointless just as it was meant to be.
