Inspiration

Along the many conflicts occurring in today's world comes refugees, who need all of the help they can get. They use many shelters during their long journeys. We decided to bridge the gap between isolation and opportunity and spread information about the refugees in need and try to raise money for them to support.

What it does

This is an informational website about refugees and refugee shelters. It includes a simulation of how hard it is to keep and shelter refugees, information about the camps, and organizations that fund refugee shelters.

How we built it

We used CodeSandbox to create a website using html and CSS, along with Scratch for the simulation. We also included a Google Translate option that we added with javascript so that anyone, anywhere can learn from the website.

Challenges we ran into

We had problems with the spacing of the website, so our information was clearly paced. We also had trouble with our pacing, as well as using variables on Scratch. Near the end, we lost much of our progress on Scratch due to a saving error.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we got the website done in time with the information we wanted.

What we learned

We learned that even when we run into problems that seem impossible to fix, we can still power through and try until we get the bug fixed.

What's next for Shore to Shelter

Our next plans are to add another Scratch game showing help kits being made with the costs of each thing so when people donate money to refugees, they know exactly where their money is going.
