🌟Inspiration

People often forget about where they spent most of their money in the past year, or even the past month. Inspired by Spotify Wrapped, we save you the headache of trying to figure out where you’ve been throwing your money by presenting it to you, wrapped!

🌟What it does

urCart Wrapped is an extension for the typical online shopper. Need a summary on what you've spent your money on in the past month? Six months? Year? Just with a click of a button, Shopping Wrapped provides a brief summary on purchases made in these timeframes, in form of a receipt.

🌟How we built it

Using the ManifestV3 API, we were able to create extensions that could interact with a users page on either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. HTML, CSS, and JS were used in conjunction to create what you see now.

🌟Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge by far was deciding on exactly what we wanted to make. New ideas kept on popping into our heads and we had to decide whether to execute those ideas or not. We also encounter a huge wall while trying to program our key feature, which was web scraping an e-commerce website's cart for the total price using JavaScript.

🌟What we learned

With uOttaHack5 being our first hackathon, we were very excited, which caused us to rush heavily without proper planning. Our trials and errors made us realize that we should properly prepare and really thing about what we want to do. Furthermore, we learned how to make a chrome extension and implement different pop-ups.

🌟What's next for urCart Wrapped

The urCart Wrapped team plans to add a budget feature. This will allow users to determine a set amount of money they would like to spend in a certain timeframe. When the cost spent is getting high, urCart Wrapped will send a notification.
