Inspiration

We wanted to make online shopping feel more natural and connected to everyday content. While watching a video or exploring a new object, users often become curious about what they are seeing—what it is, how it is used, where to find it, and whether they can buy it. This inspired us to create a platform that connects discovery, information, and shopping within the streaming experience.

What it does

The Shoppable Streaming Platform allows users to discover objects directly from streaming content. Users can identify an interesting object, search for information about it, understand its use, explore related products, and purchase it without leaving the viewing experience. It turns ordinary video content into an interactive and shoppable experience.

How we built it

We built the platform by combining video streaming, object detection, product discovery, and e-commerce functionality. The system analyzes objects appearing in the content, connects them with relevant product information, and presents users with options to learn more or shop. The platform is designed with a simple interface so users can move smoothly from watch → discover → know → find → buy.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was connecting objects detected in video content with the correct product or relevant information. Handling different object appearances, video frames, lighting conditions, and maintaining a smooth user experience while processing content were also challenging. We focused on keeping the discovery and shopping process fast and intuitive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a concept that brings content consumption and product discovery together in one experience. Instead of manually searching for an object seen in a video, users can interact with it directly and continue from discovery to purchase. The project demonstrates how streaming can become more interactive, personalized, and commerce enabled.

What we learned

We learned how computer vision, streaming systems, product search, and user experience design can work together to create a practical application. We also learned that accurate object identification and relevant product matching are essential for making an interactive shopping experience useful.

What's next for Shoppable Streaming Platform

The next stage is to improve real-time object recognition, product matching, personalization, and recommendation systems. We also plan to support more content platforms, enable voice-based product discovery, provide price comparisons, and introduce smarter recommendations based on user interests. Our long-term vision is to make anything users discover while watching content instantly searchable, understandable, and shoppable.
