Inspiration
Impulse purchases usually result in people spending more than they have to for an item. And in the case of college students, they are often spending money that they can't afford to be spending. We wanted to investigate how we could help college students save money with an item nearly everyone uses on a daily basis: the smartphone.
What it does
College ShopOut is an Android app that allows the user to scan the barcode of any item, and then gives the user the lowest selling price and average rating of the product on Amazon. This allows the user to compare prices and ensure that others have had good experiences with the product of interest so that people no longer overspend or purchase a produce that's not worth the money. The user also has the option to add items to a virtual shopping cart and make purchases directly from the app.
