Inspiration
With the Covid-19 pandemic, small and medium size businesses have suffered the most. I felt there was a need for a platform which could connect these small businesses to large communites. And Discord is the where most of the large communities connect! So I came up with the Idea of shopiconnect, A web platform presented to the user with a discord bot that would allow the user to discover small and medium businesses around them or in their city. Shopiconnect lets users in large discord communities find information about these business with just one click after relevant results are displayed by the bot.
What it does
Shopiconnect is a webplatform with a discord bot. The users can discover businesses around them with this bot. The bot displays results based on location, category and combination of both. The user can then choose from the displayed business and find detailed information like delivery options, locations, contact numbers etc on the Shopiconnect web platform.
How I built it
The project is divided into 3 parts - frontend, backend and the Discord bot. Frontend - Built using ReactJS along with html css and javascript Backend - Built with strapi's headless CMS on top of nodejs backend and postgresSQL database ""Discord Bot** - Built with Nodejs and discord.js
Challenges I ran into
Connecting all the 3 components (frontend, backend and the bot) with each other was a bit challenging.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
I am glad I could finish all the 3 components and build a fully functional project in time!
What I learned
I learnt how to integrate a backend powered by strapi CMS with a react based frontend.
What's next for Shopiconnect
Buidling a mobile app and slack bot is the next step from here!
