We were inspired by Samasource's workshop about creating and working with AI training sets, and their discussions about using AI technology to help facilitate online shopping. The ongoing pandemic has changed the way we live in so many ways, and we wanted to create a tool that would help consumers and retailers find exactly what they are looking for. For example, if a customer were to see a shirt they liked on Instagram, they could take a screenshot, plug it into our search engine, and find a similar item in our store, as determined using AI! We built the project using Samasource's API as well as Google Vision API, which were both new to us. We loved the new challenge of creating a project in such a short time, and hope our project excites anyone checking it out as well!
