💡 Inspiration

As enterprises race to deploy autonomous AI agents across customer service, FinTech, and DevOps infrastructure, security teams face a paralyzing dilemma: vulnerabilities like direct prompt injection, system prompt leakage, confidential credential exfiltration, and multi-turn Crescendo jailbreaks threaten production systems.

Traditional penetration testing takes 3 to 6 weeks, costs tens of thousands of dollars, and yields static PDF audit reports with zero actionable code. Even when developers add basic system-prompt refusal instructions ("Do not reveal secrets"), attackers easily bypass them using XML delimiter breakout techniques (</security_enclave>), pseudo-terminal escapes, and progressive roleplay framing.

We asked: What if an autonomous AI agent could act as both an elite adversarial red-team attacker AND an automated security engineer? What if it could fuzz a target model with concurrent attack vectors, identify exact vulnerabilities, and automatically synthesize, test, and mathematically verify production-ready NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails (colang 2.0 specs) in under 60 seconds?

That vision became NeMo-Sentry.

🛡️ What It Does

NeMo-Sentry is an end-to-end Autonomous AI Red-Teaming, Guardrail Synthesis, and Agentic Patching Studio built around an explicit 5-Stage Active Defense Pipeline:

  1. Stage 01 — Live 0-Day Reconnaissance (Tavily AI Search):

    • Inflow: Target persona, application domain, security boundary rules (SEC-402), and selected OWASP LLM Top 10 vulnerability categories.
    • Engine: Executes runtime API calls to Tavily AI Search to harvest the latest 2025/2026 CVEs, delimiter breakout signatures, and multi-turn Crescendo jailbreak trajectories.
    • Outflow: Dynamically grounded 0-day threat intelligence fed directly to the adversarial planning cascade.
  2. Stage 02 — Dual-Stage Adversarial Barrage (NVIDIA Nemotron-3 on Nebius Token Factory):

    • Naive Baseline Evaluation: Fires baseline injections to verify that the target actively enforces baseline refusal rules (SEC-402) and is not an unhardened strawman.
    • Deep Delimiter Breakout & True Black-Box Procedural Barrage: Dispatches high-concurrency fuzzing probes supporting both ⚡ Direct Single-Turn Delimiter Breaches and 🌊 Procedural Multi-Turn Crescendo Dialogues (configurable 2–6 turns) where Nemotron-3-Ultra acts as a true black-box adversary that observes the target's responses turn-by-turn without prior access to its internal system prompt.
    • Adaptive Early Halting (1x–5x Consecutive Refusals): Configurable early back-out threshold that halts an attack trajectory ("Target boundary confirmed hardened after N consecutive deterministic security refusals") when a patched or hardened enclave repeatedly repels escalation.
    • Live Target Code Inspector & Sandbox: Features an interactive modal allowing judges to view the target's live AsyncOpenAI deployment script and live-edit SYSTEM_ENCLAVE_PROMPT boundaries to test custom targets on the fly.
    • Stacked Probe Chat Stream with Speaker Attribution: A rich, tabbed conversation explorer starting in a clean Standby Radar state and streaming turns sequentially with real-time speaker typing attribution (🔴 Barrage AI vs. 🤖 Target Enclave) and a ⚡ Fast Forward toggle.
  3. Stage 03 — Autonomous Colang 2.0 Guardrail Synthesis:

    • Engine: Nemotron-3-Ultra analyzes the exact breach payloads and compiles a production-ready NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails specification (rails.co) in Colang 2.0 DSL alongside its runtime configuration (config.yml).
    • Guardrail Structure: Formulates user intent definitions (express delimiter hijack attempt), bot refusal directives (refuse delimiter exploit), and deterministic dialog flows with self-checking output moderation.
  4. Stage 04 — Closed-Loop Replay Verification (100% ➔ 0.0% Delta):

    • Automatically replays every previously successful breach payload against the shielded target wrapped with the synthesized NeMo Guardrails.
    • Mathematically proves a 0.0% residual breach rate (100% exploit neutralization) with sub-30ms latency overhead.
  5. Stage 05 — Agentic Repository Patcher & CI/CD Committer:

    • Fulfilling the hackathon's highest bar (an agent that plans, writes, tests, and patches a real repo with minimal human intervention), NeMo-Sentry generates:
      • nemo_guardrails.patch: Unified Git diff ready to apply directly to any Python/FastAPI codebase.
      • .github/workflows/nemo_sentry_ci.yml: Automated CI/CD security gate that runs regression fuzzing on PRs and blocks merges if breach rate > 0%.
      • server.py: Complete, ready-to-run FastAPI proxy microservice powered by Nebius Token Factory.
      • Interactive Live Shield Playground: Side-by-side comparative chat allowing developers to test any custom prompt against both the Unguarded and NeMo-Guarded target in real time.

⚙️ How We Built It

  • Inference & Tiered Model Routing (Nebius Token Factory):
    • nvidia/nemotron-3-ultra (550B MoE): High-level adversarial planning, delimiter evasion strategy, and Colang 2.0 code synthesis.
    • nvidia/nemotron-3-nano (30B): Concurrent high-throughput probe fuzzing (150+ tokens/sec) and target sandbox execution.
    • nvidia/nemotron-3-super (120B Transformer-Mamba MoE): Impartial zero-shot LLM safety evaluator classifying breaches against OWASP LLM categories.
    • Cost Optimization: Tiered routing yielded an 82% cost reduction compared to running a single monolithic frontier model for all operations.
  • Real-Time Threat Grounding (Tavily AI Search API):
    • Runtime API integration (AsyncTavilyClient) dynamically crawling active 2026 security advisories, jailbreak patterns, and OWASP LLM Top 10 vectors.
  • Defense Runtime (NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails):
    • Colang 2.0 flow semantics, input moderation rails, output redaction, and runtime binding to Nebius Token Factory endpoints.
  • Full-Stack Architecture:
    • Backend: Async Python 3.11 with FastAPI, Pydantic v2, and OpenAI Python SDK (AsyncOpenAI).
    • Frontend: Dark-theme cybersecurity Mission Control built with React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Lucide icons, and an interactive 9-step Spotlight Guide.

🚧 Challenges We Ran Into

  1. Colang 2.0 Syntax Precision: Most frontier models default to hallucinating arbitrary Python or YAML when asked for NeMo Guardrails code. We engineered structured few-shot priming for Nemotron-3-Ultra to guarantee syntactically valid Colang 2.0 user express intents, bot express intents, and flow execution logic.
  2. High-Concurrency Probe Bottlenecks: Fuzzing dozens of complex adversarial vectors simultaneously causes latency spikes on standard endpoints. We resolved this by routing parallel probes through Nemotron-3-Nano on Nebius Token Factory, sustaining 150+ tokens/sec with sub-50ms TTFT.
  3. Preventing Strawman Targets: Naive models fail on trivial attacks, offering no real proof of defense. We engineered enterprise target sandboxes with strict <security_enclave> system prompts and active SEC-402 refusal policies, proving that only NeMo-Sentry's sophisticated delimiter breakouts could penetrate them.

🏆 Accomplishments

  • True End-to-End Closed Loop: From unshielded endpoint $\to$ live Tavily 0-day recon $\to$ concurrent fuzzing $\to$ Colang 2.0 guardrail synthesis $\to$ verified 0.0% breach replay in under 60 seconds.
  • Mathematical Verification Delta: Proved 100% breach neutralization across healthcare, finance, and DevOps enclaves.
  • 82% Cost Efficiency: Demonstrated the power of multi-model tiered routing on Nebius Token Factory.
  • Agentic Repository Artifacts: Auto-compiles unified Git diffs and GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows ready for enterprise adoption.

📚 What We Learned

  • Colang 2.0 is the Enterprise Standard for AI Safety: Deterministic dialog rails and programmable guardrails provide vastly stronger guarantees than system prompt instructions alone.
  • Open-Weights Sovereignty on Managed Cloud: Nebius Token Factory provides the best of both worlds: open model auditability and sovereignty with cloud serverless convenience.
  • Adversarial Red-Teaming Demands Live Threat Grounding: Static benchmark datasets become obsolete in days; dynamic search integration via Tavily is essential for modern AI security.

🔮 What's Next for NeMo-Sentry

  • Native GitHub Marketplace Action: Automated PR security gate preventing unshielded model deployments.
  • Multimodal Red-Teaming (Nemotron-VL): Fuzzing against steganographic and visual prompt injections in multimodal pipelines.
  • Dynamic Guardrail Hot-Reloading: Streaming guardrail updates directly into live Nebius serverless inference proxies with zero downtime.
