Shop Small Helper

Inspiration

It's a new years resolution of mine to patronize more small businesses! They need our support, especially in light of the pandemic, and this application is designed to expose you to your new favorite place that you haven't found yet.

What it does

Uses location via Radar to show stores from a pre-loaded list near you.

How I built it

This project was my first exposure to SwiftUI, so most of my time was spent learning this user interface tool. There's also some swift code and I added the Radar API to try and make location calls easier.

Challenges I ran into

Location on iOS proved difficult to implement, and the blurred mvc-esque model of ios development, plus apple's outdated docs (Most everything I read wasn't applicable to SwiftUI) made this project challenging.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Figuring out how to make SwiftUI views.

What I learned

Apple's documentation is pretty bad, there are some nice WWDC recorded workshops on their site that can help, however.

What's next for Shop Small Helper

I'll likely further develop this as I have time, adding a database backend and other features, further exploring iOS dev and the Swift language.
