Inspiration
Supporting non-environmentally sustainable brands can be detrimental to our future. However, identifying whether a brand is sustainable or not can get very messy and time consuming. Shop Simply was created to compile information about the social responsibility of brands in one place, making sustainable shopping easier for consumers.
What it does
Shop Simply identifies brands that are environmentally sustainable. By providing the logo or name of a brand, Shop Simply provides users with the company’s environmental impact, working conditions, equality, treatment of animals, customer ratings and more. Additionally, users can favourite brands and view the Brand of the Week. With Brand of the Week, we hope to bring awareness to companies that are environmentally sustainable.
How we built it
Shop Simply's prototype was built using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Our team consists of beginner hackers, and Figma was new to us as well. We used our time effectively over the weekend to learn about the different features on the platform and eventually completed our prototype.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to use Figma well enough, in one weekend, to create a prototype of a mobile app.
What we learned
As novice hackers, we learned how virtual, global hackathons work. It was a great opportunity overall!
What's next for Shop Simply
We are looking forward to using our prototype to create a mobile app for Shop Simply.
