Inspiration
Solving Real-World Inventory Challenges
We were inspired by the widespread struggle of local shop owners with manual inventory systems, leading to inefficiencies and lost sales. Our goal was to create a dual-purpose application: a robust management tool for admins and a transparent, read-only product catalog for customers. The Gemini theme pushed us to think about creating intelligent, accessible solutions for everyday business needs.

A Diverse Team's Vision
Our project, "Stockify," was born during the exhilarating Hackday @GDG Gombe, themed "Building the Future with Gemini." It was a collaborative sprint where our four-person team quickly formed, pooling diverse expertise: I represented Artificial Intelligence, a teammate specialized in Cybersecurity, another in UI (User Interface), and our final member was a Web Developer. This unique blend of skills proved invaluable. Over three intense days, each of us contributed tirelessly, driven by a shared vision to address a common problem.
How we built it
Collaboration Under Pressure
Our agile approach maximized our 72 hours. We strategically designed separate Admin and Customer interfaces, ensuring strict Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) was at the core. Our Web Developer built the backend APIs and integrated the database ([Mention your database, e.g., Firebase, PostgreSQL]), while our UI specialist meticulously crafted user-friendly designs. From the Cybersecurity cohort, we implemented strong authentication and secure data handling. Core features like CRUD operations for products, real-time stock adjustments, and crucial low-stock alerts were rapidly developed. My AI background informed discussions on future smart integrations, even for this initial MVP. Git and GitHub were essential for our seamless team collaboration.

Key Learnings & Challenges
The hackathon was a powerful learning experience. We mastered agile development under extreme time constraints, learned the intricacies of implementing RBAC and secure data flow, and experienced firsthand the immense value of interdisciplinary teamwork. Balancing rapid feature development with a strong UI (thanks to our UI expert) and robust security (driven by our Cybersecurity teammate) was a constant challenge. Debugging under pressure and integrating diverse technical approaches also pushed our limits.

Stockify has revolutionized investment by making unlisted shares accessible, achieved significant revenue milestones, expanded globally, and diversified its financial product offerings.
What we learned
We learned the importance of addressing investor needs with a user-friendly platform, the value of regulatory compliance, and how innovation drives growth and trust in the fintech space.

Ultimately, "Stockify" is more than just an inventory app; it's a testament to effective teamwork, rapid problem-solving, and the power of diverse technical perspectives coming together to build something impactful at GDG Gombe.
