Inspiration

To create a sustainable product so the consumer can have an easier time doing their job under non-favorable conditions. For instance, people that struggle when working outside could still be able to work in the cold without feeling the perception of decreased body temperature or the feeling that your body is colder than usual. All while not being strained by heavy layers or baggy clothing.

What it does

Using textures, like 100‰ biodegradable material Mycelium, we would be able to create a sustainable shoe sole. An insertable heated sole could keep your feet warm in cold temperatures. Along with the sole insert, we would use Algae Yarn to create a jersey knit second skin. With heating technology, the ability to keep your body warm becomes possible. All of the heating technology would be controlled by a temperature sensor.

How we built it

We used high-level programming language to create a system that would change the temperature of a heating pad. First, we used Python to create the coding, after that we connected the Feather Huzzah to our computer in order to configure the heating process. Next, we used cables and batteries to make our heating pad work without necessarily being connected to a computer. Lastly, we used adafruit circuit playground express to regulate temperature. Patterns, samples, and designs were used to create the garment and the sole for the demonstration.

Challenges we ran into

Because our team consists of 2 fashion designers and 1 fashion merchandiser, we had to learn how to program and code in order to create the "tech" side of our project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to use Python and Arduino to program a heating system. We also were capable to discuss as a team and come up with an idea that everybody agreed on.

What we learned

We learned how to properly use programming language. We also learned how to communicate effectively to ease our work through the whole creation of the project.

What's next for ShiroTech

We look forward to facilitating human life by providing commodities that help endure and create no matter the critical or non-suitable context of the environment.
