What it does

Shikkhok (meaning "teacher") is a comprehensive, AI-powered educational platform that provides a personalized tutoring experience. It's an all-in-one learning ecosystem that features:

• AI Video Tutoring: Real-time video conversations with AI tutors who have advanced perception—they can see and respond to a student's visual cues like engagement and body language.

• AI Reading Companion: Users can upload documents (PDFs, text, images), and our AI will provide smart summaries, answer questions, and offer insights in real-time.

• Progress Analytics: The platform tracks subject mastery, identifies weak areas, and provides data-driven suggestions to help students improve.

• Interactive Learning Tools: We've included adaptive quizzes, smart flashcards, mind mapping tools, and unlimited practice problems to make learning active and effective.

Our guiding principle is to provide a learning experience that is truly "For you, at your pace."

How we built it

We built Shikkhok using a modern and agile tech stack. The frontend was developed using React 18 with TypeScript for type safety and Tailwind CSS for a responsive, dark-themed UI. We leveraged Bolt.new, a cutting-edge no-code platform, to rapidly build and iterate on our user interface, which allowed us to focus our core engineering efforts on the most complex feature: the AI integration. The heart of our platform is the Tavus Raven AI and Tavus CVI APIs, which power the advanced, perception-capable video conversations with our AI tutors.

Challenges we ran into

A primary challenge was working with the cutting-edge Tavus API. While incredibly powerful, its current pricing model is costly, making it difficult to scale the solution affordably at this stage. Additionally, the API currently lacks a developer interface for critical features like model fine-tuning and building detailed, subject-specific Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. We are optimistic that in the future, Tavus will introduce an interface for these capabilities and offer a more accessible pricing structure to allow for a full-fledged, deeply specialized implementation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of successfully creating a functional, all-in-one prototype that integrates a complex, video-based perception AI. Building a seamless user experience that combines real-time AI conversation, document analysis, and progress tracking within the hackathon's timeframe is a significant achievement. We have successfully laid the technical and conceptual groundwork for what we genuinely believe is the future of personalized education.

What we learned

This project solidified our belief in the power of modern development tools. We learned how much can be accomplished by combining advanced no-code platforms like Bolt.new with powerful, specialized APIs. It's clear that the future of software development is becoming more accessible, empowering anyone with a unique idea and a clear vision to build solutions to meaningful, real-world problems.

What's next for Shikkhok

Our vision for Shikkhok extends far beyond this hackathon. We want to continue developing it with more funding support so that we can create a startup out of it. Our ultimate goal is to make personalized, high-quality education accessible and affordable for students throughout the world, ensuring every learner has the tools they need to reach their full potential.
