Inspiration

What inspired us is that when young adults in college don’t know what to eat, they’re spending money to eat out, such as fast food, which is unhealthy, while they can just make food. So this app helps them to make food at home instead of going out to eat.

What it does

Our application creates a clear list of ingredients based on the dish you choose, whether it’s "lasagna" or "pad thai." This smart assistant helps you go from craving to cooking, whether you are dealing with grocery shopping or meal planning. It works like a portable recipe translator, providing reliable results and easy-to-use input.

How we built it

We built it using Visual Code Studio using HTML and JavaScript. We also used the Gemini Wrapper to implement a program that takes in the user's input and displays recipes on the table we created.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of challenges in the beginning, such as making our search bar and implementing tables. We also ran into challenges using the Google AI and trying to implement it into our program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The accomplishments we are proud of are making sure the program works, learning along the way how to implement AI into our code, and learning how to properly use HTML and Visual Code Studio, as this is our first hackathon.

What we learned

We learned how to use Gemini to search the web and give us an output. As mentioned above, this is our first time using HTML and Visual Code Studio, so we learned how to properly use it to format and design our website.

What's next for Shift

Implementing Shift so that it is available to the public and making it so that it will also show the most affordable place to buy the ingredients, which maximizes its use, we will also edit the homepage in the future so it actually looks well-made and modern.
