Inspiration
I learned that the best way to develop one's physical body is with intensive and critical feedback. There is no better way to push yourself than with a superior being incessantly berating your health.
What it does
Shia LaBUFF is a fully functional fitness application that tracks heart pulse, distance travelled, time running, and number of steps. Heartbeat information is measured with an AppleWatch. Data can be stored with Apple's new HealthKit framework for iOS.
How I built it
I got the classic Shia LaBeouf speech from online, split it into its different unique "sound bites", and set up a fitness algorithm to decide when to play the sounds. Steps are determined using unique X, Y, and Z calculations, distance travelled is calculated with the CoreLocation iOS library, and heartbeat is calculated with the new HealthKit framework.
Challenges I ran into
- Maintaining the app's design integrity and keeping the screen populated with the most important content
- Splitting the full speech into different segments was a little tedious
- The HealthKit framework is not very straightforward ## Accomplishments that I'm proud of I've always dreamed of making this app, and I'm really happy that its now on my iPhone! I feel like its rare when a hacker is able to feel truly connected to their product, but I realized that the app was effective in motivating me while running around the University testing the app. ## What I learned I learned that good design and a good idea makes a nice and enjoyable product that everyone can accept. ## What's next for Shia-Fitness ITS GOING ON THE APP STORE NEXT WEEK OF COURSE!!!
