Inspiration

One of the other trainers was talking about the issue of girls growing up with certain notions about what they can, cannot, should or should not do and I thought it was a good issue to work on.

What it does

It's a resource management game where you play one of a number of girls who is trying to achieve her dream to do something in a male-dominated industry. You have 24 months to pass the test.

How I built it

Checking App Inventor 2 documentation and Youtube tutorials!

Challenges I ran into

I used the wrong block for indexing from a list. I should have used 'select from a list' instead of 'index'. Balancing the game was also tricky. Fixing some game bugs where I didn't reset certain variables each turn, causing negative final scores up to -60,000.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I did it!

What I learned

App Inventor 2 is easy, but not as powerful as something like Android Studio (eg. can't use custom fonts, based on my searches). I will certainly continue learning both.
