Inspiration

The inspiration behind SheSaw came from witnessing the horrific prevalence of child sexual exploitation online firsthand. It was clear technology could do more to protect vulnerable youth.

What it does

SheSaw aims to develop AI tools to detect abusive imagery online and report it to authorities. We also want to rehabilitate survivors and give abused kids a voice through an uplifting mascot, Maia.

How we built it

In just 4 days, we focused on defining the core detection technology, building a business plan, and bringing Maia to life through sample content. My expertise in nonprofits and technology enabled rapid ideation.

Challenges we ran into

The tight timeline made it difficult to flesh out technical details and prove feasibility. It was also challenging creatively developing how Maia could interact with and empower children.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud we were able to clearly communicate an inspiring mission and vision in a short time. We developed a solid strategic plan and funding model given the constraints.

What we learned

This strengthened my ability to quickly synthesize complex ideas and identify the most critical pieces needed for a minimal viable product. The non-profit sphere has millions of angles at the same issue, the joy comes from fusing the things you are most passionate about, for me that is helping people and technology.

What's next for SheSaw

Next we will build a proper prototype of the AI tool, establish an LLC, and launch social channels to bring Maia to life. With funding, we can hire key roles and pursue partnerships. The future is bright!

PS - I apologize for the video being a little longer than the limit but it was a lot of things that had to be said, and the time constraint meant I have sacrificed a lot of sleep to get it done in time. It is 4:50 am as I submit this. Thank you for understanding.
