Inspiration

Recently, there was an incident in Pune where a woman was in danger, but a responsible crowd came to her rescue. This real-life scenario inspired us to create Shesafe, where we utilize the presence of responsible crowds as a potential solution. In case any woman faces a similar unfortunate situation, instead of having no recourse, she can run towards a crowded area, increasing her chance of rescue. Shesafe aims to empower women with a reliable tool to seek help and safety when needed, making a positive impact in their lives.

What it does

Shesafe comes equipped with three essential trigger buttons, each tailored for different situations. High Alert - One click to alert your contacts, share your live location, and reach nearby authorities instantly. Alert - Get discreet help from your trusted contacts in uncomfortable situations. Warn - Safely report incidents, connect with support organizations, and protect your privacy.

How we built it

Shesafe harnesses the power of Google Cloud APIs (Google geolocation api, google place api,javascript map api) for accurate location services and real-time data. Our app offers access to safer routes and crowded area information, helping you make informed decisions. Machine learning algorithms come to your rescue, enabling precise data filtration. With Shesafe, you can make informed decisions about your journey. The application offers real-time information about safe routes and crowded areas, guiding you to navigate to safer locations.

Challenges we ran into

During this project, we encountered several challenges, with the main one being the use of APIs for the prototype. Initially, we utilized normal JavaScript libraries, but as we transition to the app development phase, we need APIs that require prior authentication.

The crux of being an intermediate between the police and users demands robust authentication to access and retrieve information securely. This aspect posed additional challenges for us, as ensuring data privacy and security is of utmost importance.

Nevertheless, despite these hurdles, we are determined to overcome them and create a safe and reliable platform for women's safety. Our commitment to resolving these challenges drives us to make Shesafe a successful and impactful application, ensuring the safety of women across the nation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Shesafe intermediate between user and police. There are numerous intermediaries in various domains today. For education, there are online courses and classes; for hotels, there are platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, and for travel, there are services like Rapido and Ola. However, one critical aspect lacks an intermediary - user safety. This is where Shesafe steps in as an intermediate link between users and the police. Shesafe empowers users with a reliable solution for their safety concerns, ensuring they have immediate access to help and support when needed. In a world filled with intermediaries, Shesafe becomes the missing link to enhance user safety and well-being.

What we learned

Throughout this journey, we've learned invaluable lessons: leadership, teamwork, resilience, confidence, faith in each other's work, celebrating small wins, ethical considerations, adaptability, and embracing new technologies. These learnings fuel our determination to create an impactful solution with Shesafe, empowering women's safety and fostering a safer world for all.

What's next for SheSafe

We are determined not to stop at the hackathon; our goal is to become real problem solvers. With the motto "She For Her," we aim to be a guiding medium for every woman, supporting her at every step of her life. Our vision goes beyond the hackathon, as we plan to extend and adapt this project to thrive in this ever-evolving era. Together, we will create a platform that empowers women, ensuring they never have to stop, and inspiring them to achieve their dreams with confidence and resilience. Indeed, the All India hackathon has been the catalyst for gaining this confidence. It has exposed us to real-life engineering challenges, extending beyond mere coding. It taught us to transform code into something meaningful and impactful, not just identifying errors but creating solutions that truly make a difference. Through this experience, we have grown as problem solvers and learned to apply engineering skills in practical scenarios. The hackathon has instilled in us the belief that our code can bring about positive change and empower us to be agents of innovation for a better future.
