Inspiration

After hearing the challenges that shelters face in finding other shelters with availability, we decided to focus in that area. We wanted an easy way to find shelters to place people at.

What it does

Keeps track of vacancies of shelters that are added to the site Finds the closest shelters to a location that have availability Allows businesses to donate items and promo codes so they may be given to individuals who take the effort to help out.

We implemented a mySQL database and build a web platform with forms and tables for the user interface.

Challenges we ran into

Our team comes from a desktop programming background, so web development isn't our best skill. However, we decided that it would be more useful to shelters and other users as a website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We never quit working and developed a strong, well-rounded platform with a mix of obvious features that are needed and some unique ones that we feel make us stand out
