Inspiration

While trying to eat more produce and eat food that is more in season, problems like short shelf life and finding recipes to use seasonal produce have become a more prominent problem in my life.

What it does

Shelf life keeps track of what is in the fridge, when it expires, and what recipes it can be used in. The recipe book allows you to sort what recipes to make based on priority of food expiration and allows you to add missing ingredients to a shopping list.

How we built it

We utilized our prior experience with python and pygame to create the model and basic gui for this app

Challenges we ran into

Wiring all aspects of the model into gui proved more difficult than expected, and creating a polished gui in so short of a time was very difficult, so we ended up going with a very basic gui implementation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was our first hackathon for everyone on the team, so we're just happy we have something!

What's next for ShelfLife

If we continue working on this project, we would like to make it prettier and maybe add speech to text commands/
