Inspiration

While exploring educational platforms, we noticed a lack of inclusive spaces specifically tailored for girls and women, especially in underrepresented or rural areas. Many girls still lack access to essential digital and life skills due to societal barriers, financial constraints, or lack of mentorship. SheLearns was born out of a desire to create a safe, engaging, and empowering digital environment where girls can learn freely, interact confidently, and grow independently.

What it does

SheLearns is a web-based platform designed to:

  • Offer interactive courses, quizzes, and educational games
  • Enable community discussions and peer learning
  • Provide career guidance, webinars, and motivational blogs
  • Focus on key skill areas like digital literacy, communication, health awareness, self-defense, and financial independence
  • Encourage active learning through fun, gamified elements The goal is to help every girl take that first step toward self-empowerment through learning — without fear or restrictions.

How I built it

I built SheLearns using:

  • Animations/Designs: Canva for interactive and engaging visuals
  • Content Delivery: Structured modular learning using videos, articles, and quizzes

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created a working prototype of a learning + gaming + community platform
  • Designed and embedded interactive learning games using Scratch
  • Developed engaging modules focused on real-life applications
  • Built a platform that is accessible, and easy to navigate

What we learned

  • How to design for impact, not just functionality
  • How to create gamified educational content that is age-appropriate and fun
  • Importance of UX/UI for underrepresented audiences

What's next for SheLearns

  • Adding voice-enabled navigation for visually impaired learners
  • Expanding to include regional language support
  • Launching a mobile app version for wider accessibility
  • Partnering with non-profits and educators to take SheLearns to rural areas
  • Including progress tracking and certificates
