Inspiration
I noticed that some small businesses and startups needed a simple and cost effective way to analyze sales data to improve profit margins.
What it does
It is a chrome extension that analyzes a google sheet containing sales data, and then provides charts and metrics to help business owners take action.
How I built it
I built it the front end using CSS, HTML, and Javascript. The backend is also Javascript that is hosted on Render, and the Google Sheets API is also used
Challenges I ran into
It was difficult to set up the Google Sheets API, the Render server, and the authentication.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is my first time creating a project with a proper backend hosted on an external server.
What I learned
I learned how to securely hide API keys, host on render, include authentication, and enhanced my skills in version control.
What's next for SheetPulse
Next, I plan to show it to small businesses and gain their feedback about the project, and maybe add some more features if they are requested.
