Inspiration

We were inspired to build projects which we felt could be impactful, especially as students. We were inspired to integrate accessbility, customized learning, while maintaining simplicity and prioritizing users’ experience and interfacing.

What it does

Hack505 - A simplified version of the Hack404 Hacker Portal; opting for a minimal design focusing on important announcements, filtering schedules so it could accomodate all hackers (whether beginner, open, or all!) while maintaining Hack404’s branding.

Sporknife - A spoon, fork, AND a knife? What more can you need? Inspired by the Swiss Army Knife design, this simple yet intriguing moel allows anyone to utilize any utensil anywhere; on the go, at home, or in the outdoors! It is compact and allows anyone to access whichever utensil to their liking at any time.

LearnOptima, An AI Study Buddy - Having trouble studying a difficult subject while you have a test coming up? Don’t know where to start? Start with LearnOptima! Our AI agent is designed to each users’ personal struggles and subject-specific on the study topics the user requires. After providing study techniqies, our study buddy will immediately put it into practice by setting a timer and allowing the user to begin an application of the Study Buddy’s feedback.

Challenges we ran into

Debugging the backend of LearnOptima; fixing syntax errors when it came to prompting the agent to output a user-specific feedback
- This was resolved with help from mentors and resources provided during the workshops!
Contraining the ring handle to the Sporknife
Tinkering with frames on the Hack505 prototype to ensure that the prototype could scroll on the agenda and announcements; eventually resolved through collective collaboration!

What we learned

We built upon previous Python and CAD knowledge, in addition to the workships provided by the Hack404 workshops, including Figma and utilizing Google Colab.
