Inspiration

We have very personally felt the overwhelming loneliness, self-doubt, and frustration that often comes with the minority status of a woman in engineering. As much as we can help others get through or avoid those difficult stretches that we ourselves had to weather, We’d like to. As a bonus, the more women (and minorities) that enter and don’t leave the field, the better it all gets for everyone, including us.

What it does

Women in Shecoders can join us as a participant or mentor according to their proficiency. Here we have an open-source project corner where they can access projects from GitHub: beginner-friendly resources- HTML CSS JavaScript, books, programming languages like c c + +; hackathon corner in which we showcase various women hackathons; opportunity corner, where there are scholarships and internships like Google, Microsoft, Adobe; fun zone in which we have included a game, Girls in tech. We have a corner- nearby, where you can see libraries near you and the location of other fellow mates near you. Here we provide many tests and, there is a try your code console, which gets redirected to an online GDB. There is a schedule corner where we provide a weekly schedule, then there is our team, webinars which we conduct, facts and contact us. We have to use Google cloud map API for the library nearby, firebase cloud messenger messaging to provide a platform to communicate; also provided a discord link so that women can form groups and discuss their doubts and concepts.

How I built it

We have used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap for front end development. We have used firebase for hosting, database, and authentication. We have to use Google cloud map API for the library nearby. And we have used firebase cloud messenger messaging to provide a platform to communicate.

Challenges I ran into

Being Indian, we didn’t get access to google cloud credits. So we had to use the spark plan of the firebase. It took a lot of time to understand how it works.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We were able to work on a project which is very much close to our heart. We learned to use Map APIs and Firebase Authentications.

What I learned

We learned firebase for hosting, database, and authentication. We learned to use Google cloud map API for the library nearby. And we learned to build a firebase cloud messenger messaging to provide a platform to communicate

What's next for Shecoders

We will make the website interface more smooth and will try to make it more user-friendly. We will launch it in our college so that it can be beneficial to all college students.
