Inspiration In a world where responsible journalism is crucial, we recognized a gap in accessible, impactful tools for journalists tackling sensitive issues like gender equality. MediaPath was born out of the need to connect, empower, and support journalists globally, especially those who work on complex and underrepresented topics. We wanted to build a platform that combines innovation, accessibility, and security to make high-quality journalism more inclusive and far-reaching.

What it does MediaPath is a digital platform that offers a suite of AI-powered tools and resources designed to enhance content quality, accessibility, and visibility for journalists and content creators. Our services include tools for:

AI Legal Insight Tool: Providing legal guidance and insights for journalists. AI Accessibility Converter: Making media more accessible for people with disabilities. GraphAI: Generating data visualizations and graphs to improve storytelling. SEO Genie: Optimizing content for better search engine visibility. Sign Language Converter: Converting articles into sign language videos to ensure accessibility for the deaf community. Text-to-Audio: Converting written content into audio for people with visual impairments. These tools, along with a secure platform for journalists and activists to connect, help to ensure that information is accessible to everyone, no matter their ability.

How we built it MediaPath is built using a combination of WordPress, OpenAI APIs, Gemini API, and Python. Our development team has integrated these technologies to provide seamless AI-powered solutions for content creators. For our sign language and text-to-audio services, we leveraged advanced AI models to ensure accurate and clear translations.

We plan to move from a WordPress-based system to a more robust full-stack web application, using Python, JavaScript, and Angular, to improve the user experience and scalability. Our infrastructure is secure, ensuring data protection for all users.

Challenges we ran into One of the biggest challenges we faced was building AI tools that not only improved the quality of content but also ensured accessibility for people with different disabilities. Balancing high performance with inclusivity required extensive testing and continuous improvement.

Another challenge was integrating all the various technologies—from AI models to accessibility tools—into a single cohesive platform while maintaining ease of use and scalability. Additionally, finding a suitable cloud provider to support our infrastructure needs, especially for GPU usage, has been a critical task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully developed and launched a suite of AI-powered tools that improve the quality and accessibility of journalistic content. Built a platform that ensures journalists and activists have a secure, inclusive space to connect and collaborate on global issues. Created a fully free, encrypted platform that prioritizes user privacy and data security. Established MediaPath as a 100% Tunisian solution, showcasing local expertise and innovation. What we learned We learned that building a platform for journalists requires a deep understanding of their needs—both in terms of content quality and security. We also discovered the importance of accessibility in modern journalism. Designing tools that serve everyone, regardless of ability, is not just a nice-to-have but a necessity for truly inclusive journalism. Additionally, integrating AI tools into a platform that serves real-world needs requires constant iteration and user feedback.

What's next for MediaPath From November to December, we plan to launch our MVP and gather feedback from users to refine and improve the platform. We’re looking to partner with a cloud provider like Google to support our infrastructure needs, particularly for GPU usage with Gemini API. After the MVP launch, we aim to move beyond WordPress to a custom full-stack web application, enabling greater scalability and enhanced user experiences. We also plan to develop our own custom large language models (LLMs) to further improve our tools and expand our offerings.

Our ultimate goal is to create a global network of journalists, content creators, and activists who have the tools they need to produce impactful, inclusive, and accessible media that can shape a better world.
