Inspiration

Just after I heard the Hackathon was game themed, I checked my email and saw a link to a tutorial on building a Duck Hunt-type game. I decided that I'd try and make it during the Hackathon, adding my own personal touches to the tutorial.

What it does

The player can play three different modes, one focused on accuracy, one focused on speed, and the third being an endless freeplay. In any mode, difficultly ramps up as levels progress

How we built it

I followed along with a tutorial, using the assets provided by a GitHub repository

Challenges we ran into

The tutorial had a few errors in it, and the video poorly debugged, so I ended up fixing these in my own way that ended up being smoother. I ended up enjoying this, because it forced me to really, really understand the pygame framework, and made my adjustments later speedy and easy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I shifted the freeplay mode to be endless, and made the difficulty greater in a few different ways. I didn't like that the Freeplay mode was originally only three levels.

What we learned

I learned a lot about the pygame framework, which I was unfamiliar with prior to today. This was a really cool framework that I want to work with again on my own.

What's next for Sharp Shooter

Adding in more levels, as well as possibly adding new modes and art of my own.
