Sharky

Inspiration

We were inspired by the rise of apps like Duolingo which advocated for the learning of new knowledge on the go. Since people can learn a new language, why not learn more about sharks too?

What it does

It teaches its users about sharks, their eating habits, their social hierachy etc through a series of quizzes with RNG added in to make things a little more exciting.

How we built it

We used REACT to make this webapp.

Challenges we ran into

Both of us were unfamiliar with REACT, having less then a month's experience in using it so we faced many issues whereby things we could easily do in another language like python or using just plain vanilla javascript became much harder to accomplish but thankfully we have the help of our best friend google.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Managing to use REACT to create this app because to say we are amateurs in the usage of REACT would be an understatement.

What we learned

We definitely learned many new things about REACT along the way, like how to trigger a popup and I would say this was a very meaningful weekend in our progress of learning REACT.
