Inspiration
We were looking to make a team building excersize with the idea of different interactive games where every participant had a say in the outcome. The inspiration of using sharks came from the mascot of the Sussex Esports team.
What it does
Our project allows users to create a user and then select the items and shark they want to win, using items and buffs to alter their stats.
How we built it
We used DJango to control the amount of users loging into the game. Alongside this, we started by making our sprites and finding backgrounds to use. We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript to communicate with DJango so that users can select the items and buffers they want.
Challenges we ran into
We found that using forms within the HTML was tricky, as we had to format it to display images across the page. Using JavaScript, we made it possible to select the whole image rather than a radio to make the site look cleaner and less cluttered.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact we got the DJango server to work as it looked like it may not work out many time, but with our team work and perseverance we were able to keep going and eventually figure it out.
What we learned
We learnt how working in a team can speed up the development process at a very fast pace (and that working on one thing for 24 hours straight is not the best idea)
What's next for Sharks Gambit
We hope that Sharks Gambit will allow for future user regestration and that we can implement a chat function and a leaderboard
